As
a founder and spiritual leader of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance
Movement (Hamas), Sheikh Ahmad Yassin has been the subject of
intense controversy in the media. Born in 1938 in Gura, Palestine,
the Sheikh grew up in Gaza, where he taught Islamic Studies.
In
1983, Israel sentenced the Sheikh to 13 years in prison for plotting
the destruction of the State of Israel.
IslamOnline.net
hosted Sheikh Yassin on May 7, 2003, where he received numerous
questions on issues ranging from the nature of the
Israeli-Palestinian war to the Abu Mazen Cabinet and its
relationship with the Palestinian resistance.
