RABAT,
May 30 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) – A Moroccan parliament
official criticized the government, Wednesday, May 29, for hosting a
delegation from the Israeli Labor Party to attend the International
Socialist Conference which will be held in Casablanca from Friday, May
31 to Saturday, June 1.
Mustafa
Al-Rameed, the head of the Islamic Justice and Development party
delegation in the Moroccan Parliamentarian Council said Wednesday that
all Islamic and leftist factions who are affiliated to the Socialist
Union Party have expressed their rejection of the Israeli
delegation’s visit.
He
stressed his party’s refusal to greet Israelis who “have their
hands covered with Palestinian blood” and denied that these refusals
are part of an early elections campaign.
Speaking
to Quds Press International Agency, Al-Rameed said that he is not
willing to talk about the elections in relation to the refusal of
accepting the Israeli delegation. He said that he feels that this
procedure makes the nation seem as though it has no principles and
with no causes. “There must be a vote to protest the arrival of the
Zionist delegation to our country,” Al-Rameed stated.
Al-Rameed
added that all Islamic movements have signed a statement to refuse the
entrance of the Israeli delegation to Morocco. He pointed out that
this refusal is not limited to his party but includes all members of
the Islamic movements whether or not they are part of the elected
organizations or those who boycott them.
He
added that the Moroccan public also refuses the participation of the
Israeli delegation. “If you go out in the street and spoke about it,
you will find complete refusal for the participation of any Israeli
delegation in any conference in Morocco.”
Al-Rameed
said that the Socialist Union can decline the holding of the
conference and the country would have a positive role if it does that.
“If
our brothers in the Socialist Union had enough political and
humanitarian sense, they would have refused to host this conference at
all. It doesn’t make sense to say that international socialism is
responsible for organizing this conference and that the Socialist
Union has nothing to do with it,” he said.
“From
this point, we have questioned [Moroccan Prime Minister] Abdul Rahman
Al-Youssefi
in front of parliament, since he is the prime minister and the
one responsible in the Moroccan administration and the one responsible
for who enters the country and who leaves,” he said.
He
added that the government, represented by the Prime Minister should
have decided to ban these “criminals” from entering the country.
Al-Rameed
questioned whether the government had the right to invite anyone
without interference from the country. “For example, can the Justice
ad Development Party invite any party, even if it is related to Osama
bin Laden or any of the personalities that is wanted locally or
internationally?”
“The
country is the only authority that decides who enters the country and
who doesn’t, therefore Al-Youssefi should have respected the
feelings of Moroccans and ban the entrance of these criminals.
“But
Al-Youssefi goes out with us on the three million march to condemn
Israeli atrocities and then greets them [the Israelis] in our country.
What credibility is left for the Moroccan politicians? What
credibility is left for these marches if it has no effect on the
political decision makers?”
Al-Rameed
believes that his country will gain international respect when the
Socialist Union party declines hosting this conference in objection to
the aggressive policies that are practiced by Israel against the
Palestinian people.
